1.Introduction:
Are you a parent and looking for different activities for this summer? This year let your child experience something new and fun, in total contact with nature and animals. Discover our reality through summer ranch weeks, perfect if you want your children to experience authentic, genuine life in nature for a week and learn about our animals and dellaterra products.
If, on the other hand, your child or girl/young adult is passionate about horseback riding and you would like them to learn more about the world of natural horsemanship and experience full immersion with horses, you can enroll them in Western Weeks, in which children will take an intensive riding course, with the possibility of even spending a night at the ranch!
For older and already experienced riders, there is the country week, perfect for delving into equestrian techniques and taking walks in the woods.
And for those who like to go horseback riding and trekking and want to get to know the most beautiful areas of the Lakes Valley in the saddle, there is the trekking week, for experienced riders.
Why does horseback riding improve your child’s childhood?
There are numerous well-established benefits that come from the regular practice of horseback riding: both physical and mental benefits. First of all, horseback riding takes place outdoors, in contact with nature and away from TV and video games. Children on horseback strengthen the muscle mass of legs, arms, buttocks and abdominals, improving posture. In addition, riding a horse improves coordination and perception of space and environment and strengthens orientation. While riding a horse you live in the moment, you need full concentration to lead it, anticipate any moves the horse may make and know how to handle it without being caught off guard. Interacting with horses helps develop one’s character, gaining more firmness and determination but also kindness and patience. Children learn to care for animals and others, develop empathy and learn to interact with other children participating in the riding class in a polite and respectful manner. In short, many benefits while having fun! What are you waiting for to enroll your child in our activities?
2. There are different types of summer weeks. Choose the summer week that’s right for you!
We begin with the WEEKS AT THE RANCH – minimum age 5 years..
The Roncher farm opens its doors: for more than 30 years it has been involved in horse breeding and fodder production, and for the past few years it has expanded its activities with the introduction of laying hen breeding and the cultivation of organically certified vegetables and medicinal plants.
In this week children and young people will have the opportunity to discover with their own eyes how our horses live, what they eat, how they relate to each other, herd dynamics and learn step by step how to approach the animals. They will learn how to behave and relate to ponies and horses in a natural and respectful way, without the use of violence or coercive methods but through the right attitude, language and leadership, just as horses communicate with each other.
Children will have the opportunity to experience the thrill of riding horses, with and without saddles, and carry out walks in the woods in the company of our four-legged friends.
In addition to the horses at the ranch live beautiful laying hens: children will have the opportunity to meet them, care for them, feed them and collect fresh eggs daily.
The organic garden also gives many delicacies every day: through educational workshops we will learn together how to recognize the vegetables we grow, how to care for them, how to harvest them, and what dishes can be cooked.
We continue with the WESTERN WEEKS – minimum age 8 years.
Weeks with a night at the RANCH are now our workhorse. It is a thrill to be able to spend a night at the ranch, and the kids and teens look forward to the arrival of Thursday to take the walk in the woods and in the evening be able to sleep at the ranch. Having the bonfire, porridge on the fire, marshmallows, and sleeping (or at least trying to) all together with pillows and sleeping bags are indelible memories that stay in every child’s heart and are remembered for a lifetime!
Western weeks are designed for full immersion with horses and in the world of natural horsemanship: in fact, riding lessons take place every day, teaching how to relate to the horse in a natural way, learning the techniques and the right attitude to ride in harmony and with respect for the horse, without bites or spurs or other coercive and violent means. We begin with exercises and games on the ground, which are fundamental to getting to know the horse and building trust and respect; then we get on the back and learn to ride either with a saddle or like Indians without a saddle. We end the week with an all-day horse trek with picnic always popular with everyone. There will be no shortage of theoretical training sessions, to learn more about horses, how they live, breeds, etc., and some activities are conducted in English! A new feature this year to provide an even more complete and interesting experience.
As of this year, we have planned to offer specific weeks according to the level of the participants: so here are the western weeks basic level, designed for those who are approaching horses for the first time, or for those who already know them but do not practice riding regularly. It is well known that if you do not practice a discipline regularly but practice it only once a year, you probably need to start from the basics in order not to get into difficulties.
On the other hand, those who are at least 9 years old and already practice horseback riding or have taken horseback riding courses and want to improve, we propose the western weeks intermediate level.
Another proposal is the COUNTRY weeks, for kids from 12 years old, structured and designed for those who ride regularly and want to perfect their technique of relationship with the horse through advanced level lessons. Kids are known to get bored if they are in a group with younger children, and so we have created, for a few years now, this type of week and it turns out to be very popular! It is important not to underestimate the level of riding required, as it is necessary to already be independent in handling the horse in the three gaits.
Also planned during the week are bareback lessons (saddleless Indian riding), walks in the woods and ranch activities such as cowboy play, lasso use, etc.. Super anticipated is also the night in the tent! Great excitement and preparation for this unforgettable evening of campfires, laughter, country dinner and night under the stars.
Last but not least type of riding weeks is the TREKKING WEEK . To participate you must be 14 years old and have an advanced level of riding. This week will take place entirely in the nature and woods of Trentino and is a unique thrill: you will ride all day long, and the horse will become your traveling companion for a week. Different treks will take place each day, riding on trails, reaching lakes, galloping through meadows and discovering the beauty of our valley at a slow pace, enjoying every moment.
